It is difficult to keep the schedule and the focus during the last few weeks of school, but Mrs. Griswold was willing to work with Mrs. Etienne to solidify some phonics skills for her students. They chose the goal of focusing on mastering 5 syllable types. This involved reviewing lessons that had already been taught in UFLI through the lens of syllable types. The beginning data showed us that not all students had mastered 5 syllable types. Mrs. Griswold made a plan and stuck to it as best as she could. She was able to review 4 of the 5 syllable types. The data shows that it helped our students solidify their phonics skills! Great job everyone!!!

Congratulations to Mrs. Conrad and her class for showing great improvement. Mrs. Etienne partnered with Mrs. Conrad and here are the results: After completing instruction and some practice in the Partner Reading Paragraph Shrinking whole class intervention, Mrs. Conrad's second graders show that they are now able to state the main idea more proficiently! Direct instruction and intervention with scaffolds are effective ways to improve learning outcomes!

🧹💚 Because no one works magic like our SOUTH CRAWFORD ELEMENTARY STAFF! 💚🧹 In the words of Wicked… “Because I knew you, I have been changed for good.” ✨ This week, we’re casting a spotlight on the real heroes of our school — the teachers, aides, office staff, custodians, cafeteria crew, and every magical soul who makes our school feel like home. 🌟 From teaching tiny minds to dream big, to keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes, you all put your heart (and a little sparkle) into everything you do. You don’t just work here — you transform lives. 🎶 Whether you're defying gravity or just defying the copier jam again — THANK YOU for being so wonderfully, wickedly awesome. 💬 Parents, students, and friends — drop a comment and help us celebrate this incredible team! #WickedlyWonderfulStaff #ElementaryMagic #StaffAppreciation #DefyingGravity #BecauseWeKnewYou

Today we are celebrating the work of Second Grade Teacher, Mrs. Conrad and Literacy Coach, Amy Etienne. You can see that Mrs. Conrad's focus on improving reading of multisyllabic words is showing great progress for 2-syllable words. They will continue to work on teaching and applying the 6 syllable types to help students read 3- and 4-syllable words! Congratulations second grade students!
